Let me start by saying I do high intensity workouts and I am very picky about my athletic clothing. I don’t want anything that is going to ride up, fall down or cause me to have stuff hanging out ?. Of course I like it to look cute too but being functional is the most important. I tried 3 different summer athletic type outfits from Walmart and here is my honest opinion.
Outfit 1:
I think this one is the cutest and was actually the least expensive. The Women’s Core Active Gym Shorts were only $7.88. They come in 9 different colors/patterns and sizes XS – XXL. They are extremely comfortable and light weight. I found them to be true to size and was happy the legs were not too baggy so they didn’t show my undies which I have found to be a common problem with these type of shorts ?
The No Boundaries Scoop Tank was only $3.92! They had a ton of different colors available in store and even some with cute sayings. You can also score a 3 pack here for $11 (just ordered ?). I purchased this is my regular size and it’s a little more form fitting than I prefer. I should of sized up one. This top is super light weight and breathable. I actually plan to wear this whole outfit to the theme park on Spring Break because it is so comfortable!
For shoes, I choose the Athletic Works Mesh Trainer Athletic Shoe. They are only $10 and I don’t expect them to hold up for high intensity workouts. They are super cute and comfy (hello memory foam) and I think they will be fine for walking and lower intensity days. There are 11 different color options!
Outfit 2
I think this one is my favorite if you are going to be doing very active workouts! I picked the Avia Women’s Core Active Woven Running Short with Bike Liner for $10. They are available in 7 different colors and sizes XS – XXXL. I love that I can plank, lift weights, squat and run without these moving around or showing my bum. The only downside is they don’t have any pockets. I found they fit true to size.
My top is the Athletic Works Ruched Tank for $7.88. It’s available in 4 different colors and sizes XS – XXXL. I sized down on this one and I’m glad I did. The ruched sides keep in from hanging loose when you are doing the plank or burpees but it’s not too form fitting like the first top!
Outfit 3
Last but not least I picked up some Athletic Works Women’s Activewear Performance Capri’s. They are available in 5 different patterns and sizes S – XXL. I found they fit true to size. I’ll be totally honest I already have a brand of workout leggings that I love and felt pretty loyal to so I wasn’t even too excited about trying these. I figured for $10 I didn’t have much to lose though. They are cute and comfortable. I prefer thicker compression pants for working out so these were a bit thinner than what I was used to. They did stay up so I was impressed with that!
I paired it with the Athletic Works Ruched Tee for $8. It’s available in 4 colors including some pretty spring options and sizes S – XXXL. I also really like that ruched sides that pull you in to appear thinner and keep the shirt from riding up. This was a little loose on me so I tied it up for a different look but it does cover my bum when untied which is good with the leggings!
