Three Ways To Save Money On Back To School
This is a sponsored post. All opinions are mine.
Back To School is one of my favorite times of the year! As much as I love summer break and getting to relax with the kids, I am more than ready to send them back come August 😉 It can also be very expensive. Clothing, backpacks, shoes, supplies….did that list really say we needed 37 glue sticks….sports, physicals. Sometimes I feel like I need to take out a second mortgage just to get the needed supplies. Thankfully there are a few ways we have learned to save some major cash and still get nice things that will last.
1.) Invest in a quality backpack, shoes and clothing. Yes, you can find cheaper items but if you end up having to replace them halfway through the year that negates any savings. We invested in high quality backpacks from Land’s End last year and they are in nice enough shape that we can use them again this year. Wait for a sale to get the best deal and check PromoPro for discount codes and coupons for even more savings.
2.) Shop Tax Free Weekend. I live in Tennessee where the sales tax rate is almost 10% so shopping on Tax Free weekends gives us an automatic 10% savings. Don’t worry if you don’t want to fight the crowds in the store, the tax free special also applies to online shopping and you can save even more by using coupon codes! PromoPro is a great place to look for free shipping offers, discount codes and exclusive coupons you can use both in store and online. I always check them before making a purchase at Staples, Best Buy, Walmart or anywhere! Offers are updated daily and they make finding extra savings so easy.
3.) Shop off season for clothing, shoes and backpacks and in season for supplies. Many items that are great for Back To School clothing will be at their lowest prices as the beginning of summer. Stock up by combing the clearance racks and End of Season sales in May and June for jeans, tennis shoes, jackets and more. Actual school and office supplies are always at their lowest in July and August. Many stores will offer penny items, 100% back in store rewards and rock bottom pricing on most things on your school supply last. Don’t wait till the week (..or night) before to get everything. Buy only what is on sale at different stores for several weeks leading up to the start of school and by the time it gets here most of your list will be completed!
Are you sending anyone back to school this year? I would love for you to share your tips for saving money in the comments!
